Who is Jean and why is she helping people date?

One of my best friends has introduced multiple people to their life partners. She even got featured in one of our friends’ weddings as “The Matchmaker.” While I’ve been the awkward third wheel observing several of my friends’ meet-cutes (the Rosencrantz and the Guildenstern, if you will), I am still waiting for my matchmaking home run.

And this was no passive wait. Just before shelter-in-place, I was on an extended match-making bender. Not to be deterred when in-person dates became verboten, I suggested to two friends who previously did not know each other that they should go on a Zoom date. The date went very well.

Emboldened by my early single data point, I put out a Google Form to see who else might be interested. In just a few days, I got dozens of people signing up—and almost a dozen dates taking place. By Day Three, I started getting referrals to interesting people I didn’t even know how I was connected to. (And a lot of questions about how dates work…?) So I put up this site.

This project is definitely helping me stay connected to a community outside of my apartment. I hope it can do the same for you too!
